DarkRoom: Screening & Salon

For the past few years, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 has hosted a monthly short film screening series across multiple boroughs in New York. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 features films across all genres, including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, music videos, clips from features, and works-in-progress. Each screening is one-of-a-kind: no two programs are alike, and the lineups are never announced in advance.

Filmmakers are in attendance and most screenings are 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 to attend, with suggested donations encouraged for visiting artists.

Held at least twice a month — regularly at the Press Room in Alamo Drafthouse in Manhattan, Nitehawk Cinema Prospect Park, Freddy’s Bar & Backroom in Brooklyn, and the Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx, as well as other rotating venues in various boroughs — 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 brings together independent filmmakers, artists, writers, and musicians. Our goal is to foster a vibrant community and create opportunities for collaboration.

More information about upcoming screenings in our Substack or Instagram.
All are welcome. We hope to see you there.

In 2025, we held our first 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 in Los Angeles at the Lyric Hyperion and in Birmingham, Alabama as part of the Sidewalk Film Festival.
